Lionfish info report
Description (what do they look like, features)
The lionfish has a distinctive colour. And they live up to 15 years. They also really look like a lion's mane. I also think that their colours are used to fix in with coral reefs and seaweed. The lionfish has a similarity to the scorpionfish. The scientific name of the lionfish is Pterois volitans.
Their family name of the lionfish is Scorpaenidae the scientific name of all species. Pterois antenna, Pterois lunutana, Pterois miles, Pterois moonbase and Pterois radiata. The venom found in a lionfish is in the needle-sharp dorsal fin, pelvic and the fin. Lionfish are NOT DEADLY it depends on if your healthy or not. If your healthy it will swell up and blister if your not healthy treat the wound properly. Because it may cause serious injury or death. Lionfish are not native to the Atlantic ocean so if your fishing out there grab a first aid kit.
The juvenile lionfish eat small invertebrates. Adults would usually eat grouper and snapper also smaller fish like shrimp and crab.
